Kayak & Paddleboard Rentals

Fred Howard Park makes it incredibly easy to turn a beach day into a paddling adventure, and the park’s kayak scene has a very down‑to‑earth, Gulf‑coast vibe. The rentals are run by Park Beach Services, the long‑time operator at the park, and they’re located right at the far end of the causeway — the part of the park that feels like a little island of its own.

What You’ll Find at the Kayak Rental Area

  • On‑site kayak shack: Visitors confirm there is a dedicated kayak rental hut at the end of the park, offering both single and tandem kayaks.
  • Park Beach Services presence: They operate kayak rentals, paddle boards, pedal boats, and more at Fred Howard Park, and their Tarpon Springs location is specifically listed as offering kayak tours and rentals.
  • Self‑guided kayak tours: Park Beach Services has also promoted self‑guided tours that take you under the causeway and along the mangroves toward Sunset Beach, highlighting the local ecosystem and calm Gulf waters.

What the Experience Is Like

Paddling here is wonderfully relaxed. The water around the park is shallow and calm, and there’s a mangrove trail that locals mention as a favorite route for a peaceful loop through the trees.
